WRR NIGERIAN TEACHERS AWARD

The WRR NIGERIAN TEACHERS AWARD (WRR-NTA) recognizes and rewards Nigerian teachers for their contributions to the development of education and the literary industry. The award rests upon our belief that teachers are responsible for shaping the future and should be accorded their due respect and appreciation by all segments of our societies.

Teaching in Nigeria is often viewed as a second-class profession, and teachers are viewed as second-class citizens with poor pay and little social respect, as in many countries. Therefore, the WRR-NTA is a way to recognise and reward Nigerian teachers of the English Language, Literature, and Creative Arts who have made outstanding contributions to the development of education and the literary industry in their respective schools.

It is a fact that most people believe that only people who cannot find employment elsewhere settle for the low-paying teaching profession. This should not be the case considering that we owe society’s advancement to their efforts.

The WRR-NTA was thus created as an annual prize to recognize Nigerian teachers and advocate that they be given the same respect as other professionals.

We are open to partnerships from individuals and corporate bodies toward improving the Award.
