Feast of Words (FOW), the annual Words Rhymes & Rhythm Publishers Literary Festival, is one of Nigeria’s most anticipated literary festivals, especially among the younger generation of writers. It is one of the ways we achieve our overall aim of promoting literary excellence in Nigeria as an indigenous company.
Like most of our initiatives, we started FOW to close a gap. We observed at the time that most of the literary festivals did not consider the need to include emerging creatives in planning their programs. They have high registration fees and only, justifiably, feature notable names. As such, many young and talented individuals miss out because they are largely unknown in the industry and cannot afford to pay high festival registration fees.
It is for these excluded artists that we created the FOW: a unique, one-day, non-ticketed literary festival that features performances, discussion panels, award presentations, book readings, poetry, music, drama performances, and an African night of traditional performances. FOW has no registration fees, provides food and free books, and allows anyone talented to perform.
