We are proud to unveil ‘DAZZLING MIRAGE’, a novel by OLAYINKA ABIMBOLA EGBOKHARE. Dazzling Mirage is a well narrated story of a sickle-cell patient, Funmi, whose only need was to live a normal life and, against all odds, and find love in the midst of rising social stigma.
Here is what REMI RAJI, Professor of African Literatures & Creative Writing, University of Ibadan, says about the book:
“The author succeeds in producing a very realistic tale of loving and faith in an emotively rational style that only a trained and investigative mind can manage. I suspect that in composing her narrative, Egbokhare took time to understudy the challenging world of a carrier of sickle cell; but instead of reducing the medical information to mere data, the author produces a very moving tale that challenges received myths about SS in a hard, superstitious, indifferent, and calculating environment.”
‘DAZZLING MIRAGE’s 2014 movie adaptation of same title by Tunde Kelani, starring Kemi “Lala” Akindoju, Kunle Afolayan, Bimbo Manuel and other stars, won the Audience Choice Award at the Nollywood Week Paris Film Festival.
The author holds a Ph.D in Communication and Language Arts, University of Ibadan where she teaches writing skills, advertising message development amongst other courses.
