BOOK SUMMARY:

Storm in a Pot portrays the tortuous existence of many poor women who silently suffer economic, social and religious oppression in diverse forms for the sake of their children and families. It is a story of womanhood told through the eyes of Sikimi, an unfulfilled but incredibly resilient woman in a small rural community. Her turbulent experiences in the midst of acute poverty as she undertakes the daunting task of parenting seven children after being abandoned by her good-for-nothing husband, Edivo, and her relationship with Nemsi her adventurous teenage daughter is reminiscent of the life of the typical lower-class African mother. Sikimi’s storm worsens with the unexpected appearance of Qauna, Edivo’s daughter from another woman. Will she overcome the storm?

Haggai’s Storm in a Pot is worth reading and it promises to not fail the intriguing and attractive title it has. Eugene Yakubu
