BIOGRAPHY:

YEWANDE OGUNNUBI is a lawyer by training and a passionate women and children’s rights advocate by calling. She has many years of experience in the international development space working to promote gender equity, human right, health and education systems strengthening and personal development. She co-authored A Walk In Her Shoes, with her daughter, Tomisin, in 2018.

Her commitment to social development is borne out of her growing up experiences as a girl child in a patriarchal society. Those experiences shaped her outlook on fairness and equity and got her involved in many initiatives, in and outside Nigeria, that seek to inspire and empower the voiceless to find their voice. She is a storyteller who uses the power of stories to shape the narratives around gender norms, the concept of masculinity, leadership, self-actualization and spiritual maturity. Her work has been passion driven and has been rewarded with attitude and policy changes that have come about while working with young people, community and religious leaders, civil society organizations and governments.

Yewande translates this same passion into family life where she promotes communication and participation as tools in parenting her children, Tomisin and Daniel. She is a fun loving mom who finds creative ways to inspire her children to be the best. She is also a stickler for values and helps her children draw valuable life lessons from everyday events around them.

She is a career mentor and life coach to many.
